Chilean Palacios's strong response to rumors surrounding his absence from Boca Juniors: "I never arrived to training in bad shape."

The Boca world, it seems, never has peace . This Tuesday night, Chilean forward Carlos Palacios published a lengthy statement on his social media after being left out of the squad for the Copa Argentina match against Atlético Tucumán . He discussed rumors about his late arrival to training that had provoked the fury of coach Miguel Ángel Russo . In that regard, he took direct aim at two Argentine journalists .
"What are they looking for with so many lies? To make me look bad, like I'm irresponsible? I've been suffering from knee discomfort since before the Club World Cup; you can easily see that by looking at the bandages I wore in those games. Beyond that, I did and am doing everything to play for this great club, which is my dream. I'm aware that I'm at one of the biggest clubs in the world and the responsibility that entails," he began his statement in an Instagram story.
The story Carlos Palacios posted after being left out of Boca's squad.
He explained that, after Friday's draw against Unión de Santa Fe on the road, he trained both Saturday and Sunday and that on Monday he showed up "on time as usual for training but with pain in his knee."
"That's why, together with the doctors, we decided that the best thing to do was to get treatment and not go out to train on the field to avoid putting too much strain on the knee that's causing me pain," he explained.
And there he took aim directly at journalists Martín Arévalo and Marcelo Palacios , from La Red radio. He shared a post from the Chilean media outlet "Al Aire Libre" in which it was mentioned that he had arrived "drunk" to a practice and that Russo uttered the phrase "he won't play with me anymore" to illustrate his future at the club.
"If they're trying to make me look bad, they're succeeding, but with lies. Journalists like Arévalo, who so easily says I arrived 'in bad shape' and told me not to even train, or on that same show, host Marcelo Palacios, who speaks lightly about the mental health of athletes and 30 seconds later says that 'Carlos Palacios should be sacrificed'... know that they're doing a lot of harm," he said.
And he added: "We have to be careful with the things we say, because behind it all there are mothers, children, families. But they are not the only ones. In my own country, journalists constantly echo what they hear here and publish lies without arguments or foundation. Why so much harassment toward me?"
